NRA Basic Shooting Courses go well beyond the FIRST Steps Orientations. 

Clients become familiar with different action types of the gun category they choose (pistols, rifles or shotguns). 

Clients find that handling and shooting different guns and action types in each of these courses help them make better informed purchasing choices.  The Basic Shooting Courses include guidelines on "Selecting and Purchasing a Gun".

The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course satisfies the firearms safety and shooting skills requirement of virtually every concealed-carry state.

NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting Course is at least 10-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning how to shoot shotguns at moving targets.  Click on the following link for the full NRA course description:

NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course is at least 14 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn to shoot from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions.
